Nikolay Biba participated in the CBM Mini Fastener Manufacturing Expo 2025, which took place on October 15 in West Bromwich, UK.
Organised by the Confederation of British Metalforming (CBM), this specialist event is dedicated to the fastener industry and brings together manufacturers, suppliers, and industry leaders for a focused day of networking, knowledge sharing, and innovation.
Aleksandar Lazić, a student at the University of Belgrade in Serbia, took third place in the Hot Bulk Forging section and invested his prize money in purchasing a 3D printer!

Alexander shared his thoughts about the Olympiad and gave some useful advice for future participants:
“My name is Aleksandar Lazić, a Master’s student at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, in the Department of Production Engineering. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Professor Mihajlo Popović for the opportunity to participate in the Students’ Olympiad in Hot Bulk Forging. During my preparation for the competition, I was introduced to QForm software for the first time and quickly realized that it is an exceptionally powerful and intuitive tool for understanding and analyzing metal forming processes...
At the end of September, the 93rd AIKW Conference took place in Siegen, Germany. QForm UK presented a range of solutions and products designed not only for rolling process simulation, but also for roll pass design.
During the conference, Vitaliy Belugin, Head of the Longitudinal Rolling Bureau, QForm Group, gave a detailed presentation on the full range of QForm UK’s capabilities for rolling simulation.
In his presentation, “A full-cycle digital twin of rail manufacturing: from roll pass design to differential quenching and straightening”, Vitaliy demonstrated how QForm UK enables the creation of a comprehensive digital model of the entire technological chain — from profile drawing design to simulation of heat treatment and straightening. He also showed how the software allows for in-depth analysis of stresses, strains, and potential defects within the rolled profile.
In September, the QForm team and our Turkish distributor InSource Yazilim successfully held two major events: participation in ALUEXPO 2025 and the QForm User Seminar — highlighting innovative solutions for metal forming and aluminum extrusion industries.
Before we announce the launch of the new season of the International Student Olympiad, we’d like to share some photos from the awards ceremony.

The international scientific conference WPC25 Vitrintec took place on September 25–26, 2025, at the Nosalowy Dwór Resort & Spa in Zakopane. The event was organized by the Faculty of Non-Ferrous Metals of AGH University of Science and Technology and the AGH UST Laboratory of Extrusion Processes. Following the conference, participants attended the Basic Course on Aluminium Extrusion, organized by QForm Group in collaboration with the AGH UST Extrusion Process Laboratory. At the conference, Nikolay Biba presented a new platform based on QForm software: Extrusion Link – a new Industry 4.0 platform for collaboration and data exchange between extruders and diemakers. Extrusion Link concept significantly simplifies interaction between profile manufacturers, die producers and consumers of aluminum profiles.
