Structure forecast

QForm HeatTreatment module is a joint project between our development department and GMT mbH Berlin. This represents the continuation of work completed for QForm Microstructure module release. Phase transformation simulation is based on use of interpolated C-curves for carbon and alloy steels. The influence of alloying elements is considered as they displace C-curves according to the content of these elements. Shown in the Figure 1.

In the process of heat treatment simulation, for example, quenching, content of phases and cooling velocity are identified for each point of the forged part. At the end of simulation the percentage of phases (ferrite, pearlite, bainite, martensite) in the forged product is identified. Steel properties after heat treatment such as hardness, stress limit etc., are calculated in the same way (Figure 2).
