The Forum is a big event for the QForm UK community and team as it brings together researchers, manufacturers, experts, and developers from diverse countries and industries. Typically organised biennially, this time it took place in Dubai.
The QForm UK Forum in Dubai is like a big showcase of what we've been up to in the past few years. It was three jam-packed days filled with development talks, specialised sessions, and master classes. We saw lots of cool presentations sharing success stories of using QForm UK in manufacturing all around the globe. The vibe at the event was super positive and creative, whether we were diving into technical stuff or just chilling during free time. Overall, everyone thought the Forum was a big success!
The 91th AIKW Conference took place in Rogaška Slatina, Slovenia on October 4-6, 2023. Numerous detailed technical presentations were dedicated to rolling and roll pass design technology. QForm UK was represented by the participation of Dr Hans-Willi Raedt from prosimalys GmbH and Dr Nikolay Biba from Micas Simulations Limited. They presented a newly developed program QKaliber for developing and enhancing rolling processes for long products and section profiles.
The 12th Aluminium Two Thousand World Congress together with the 7th ICEB (International Conference on Extrusion and Benchmark) was held from 19 to 23 September 2023 at Royal Hotel Carlton, Bologna, Italy. Dr Nikolay Biba, Director of Micas Simulations Limited, participated in this remarkable event.
Since 2007, QFORM has participated in all ICEB conferences, during which Benchmark extrusion tests are held. Three other participants have performed the test this year together with Micas Simulations Limited.
QForm UK was presented at the 14th International Conference on the Technology of Plasticity (ICTP) in France by the stand arranged by Micas Simulations Limited and by the presentation of the paper on automated die design done by Dr Nikolay Biba.
ICTP is also called the «Olympic games of metal forming» because ICTP is a conference where the latest scientific achievements are presented, and a bridge is built between fundamental science and industrial applications. Gathering scientists and engineers from across industry, academia, and government allows sharing of the latest results and thinking about future solutions. The ICTP community can provide to answer significant challenges related to industry, society and environmental issues.
42nd Senafor was held in Brazil from October 4-6th. Stanislav Kanevskiy and Andrei Potapov, QForm Group, Ricardo Antonio Micheletti Viana and Prof. Dr Alisson Duarte, the Sixpro Virtual&Practical Process, were happy to meet with users and answer any questions they may have.
QForm UK seminar was held at Beijing WEIJING Hotel in China on September 15th, 2023, organized by QForm Group and Beijing Intelligent United Innovation Technology Co, Ltd, the official distributor of QForm UK in China.
Congratulations to the winners of the Olympiad!
This year 110 students, 37 universities and 13 countries participated in the Olympiad: Austria, Brazil, Hungary, Vietnam, Germany, India, Italy, China, Belarus, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia.
The International Olympiad was held in two sections - Hot Bulk Forging and Extrusion.
GMT mbH and QForm UK were able to demonstrate the interconnection of FEM and material simulation through a joint presentation at Numiform in Krakow, Poland on 26th June 2023. Practical tips were provided for selecting suitable material data and models, along with impressive application examples where real forming processes such as open die forming, die forging, and heat treatment were simulated using QForm UK.
The results demonstrated an outstanding correlation with actual material properties and process parameters. Feel free to ask us for more information!
The Forum Aluminium, organized by CAG Holding, was held for the first time in St. Pölten, Austria, from July 4-6, 2023. The topics focused totally on aluminum: materials science, materials processing, semi-finished and finished products up to application technology. But also overarching aspects such as supply chain, energy supply and emissions were dealt with in lectures and plenary discussion rounds. The approximately 250 participants and 45 speakers were recruited from the entire spectrum of the manufacturing, processing and supplying industries, including applications.
QForm Direct usually attracts a lot of interest from the audience. At the seminar in Milan, on 22 June, QForm Direct was presented by Dr. Nikolay Biba, Director, Micas Simulations Ltd. During the presentation Nikolay Biba showed the principal aspects of Direct: the methods on which the construction of preforming dies is based. Using the Direct is very simple - you need to use the finish forging dies as initial data and after the automatic generation to pick the best surface for preliminary dies, but the calculation methods are based on thorough scientific research and analysis. Turning complicated into simple and user friendly - is that a miracle or a good job? :)
