QForm Webinars Microstructure and Phase composition

Microstructure and phase composition are crucial for the mechanical and operational properties of forged parts. Processes such as recrystallization and grain growth are important in thermomechanical processing and must be modeled for critical parts. At the same time, the phase transformations that occur during heat treatment can improve the properties obtained during forging.

To introduce engineers and researchers with this topic, we have planned two webinars:

  1. Analysis of microstructure evolution processes in metal forming in QForm
This webinar will introduce QForm tools for simulation of the grain size evolution and recrystallization processes. As an example, the forging process of the Inconel 718 nickel alloy will be demonstrated.
    Date: June 16, 2020
    Time: 9:00 AM (UK)

  2. Simulation of phase transformations during heat treatment of forged parts in QForm
This webinar will present the capabilities of QForm for simulation of the phase transformations that occur in alloys during heat treatment and thermomechanical processing. An example would be the Jominy end quenching process of structural steel workpiece.
    Date: June 19, 2020
    Time: 9:00 AM (UK)

Presenters:
Dr. Nikolay Biba, Managing Director, Micas Simulations Ltd., Oxford, UK
Artem Alimov, Development engineer, Ph.D., QForm Group
